Sam George has been vocal in the past few days enumerating the problems associated with the SIM registration process. On Good Morning Ghana, Sam George while illustrating the supposed ineptitude of the government regarding the SIM card registration went on to rant about the state of the economy. Sam George mentioned that the whole country is messed up. Interestingly, he mentioned that one of the things that made him and Otukonor storm the NPP Conference with a kenkey was the complaints from some NPP supporters.
According to the MP, many NPP supporters complained that they were suffering in their own party. They charged him and Otukonor to address that issue of marginalization in the NPP. Sylvester Tetteh, MP for Ngleshie-Bortianor however felt incensed that Sam George was making allegations without proof. Sylvester noted that many have left the NDC because of the same accusations Sam George was saying. He mentioned that Sam George cannot give everyone in Ningo Prampram jobs or satisfy them so it is normal for some party people to be aggrieved.
To make matter amusing, Sylvester Tetteh mentioned that the NDC couldn’t even help themselves because by the time they left office in 2000 their own party headquarters was in so much debt that their meter was disconnected.
“Are you saying that if the NDC has power every foot soldier will be satisfied? If we do this kind of politics it won’t help. No government or party has what it takes to save every member of the party. When the NDC lost power in 2000 your light bill at the party headquarters was disconnected. We know all these things in the country,” Mr. Tetteh said
Sam felt uncomfortable with some of the commentary from Sylvester and sat down quietly and stared at his fellow MP. Interestingly, there are many NDC supporters who have left the party for varied reasons. The usual concern has been the marginalization of some members after struggling to bring the party to office.
This system of appointing party people has corrupted the foundation of the country. Sam George has on many occasions complained that unqualified people have been employed into the national security and Police and yet because of politics was using the same tool to chastise the ruling government. Sam George has even on many occasions mentioned that he knew of some police personnel who couldn’t even write their names on forms. So then is it possible to satisfy all party people?
