Teachers in the country have laid down classroom materials as they embark on an indefinite strike to demonstrate to government how serious and dissatisfied they are about his reluctance to increase their salaries.
They have been chasing government for salary increment to compensate for the skyrocketing prices of goods and services in the country for which they described as “Cost Of Living Allowance”. As at now, tutors in the primary and secondary educational institutions paid by the government are on strike leaving the students stranded in the various schools. There has been a doubt about UTAG if the body is also going to embark on a strike or not for they are still lecturing in the various universities.
Reporting from Ghana web via its official twitter page, is a decision taken by UTAG to help government out and not to go on strike for now. UTAG has decided to avail expertise among its members to help government in IMF bailout talks which is yet to come off with IMF officials, the president, Professor Solomon Nunoo shared. Making clear their readiness towards the above isn’t to make government aware of the world class personalities they have hence should be treated as such.
Some universities were happy on hearing the current strike actions for they will be leaving to the house but this time, UTAG is with government on the same side. Find below some reactions I gathered:
What is your opinion on the step taken by UTAG this time around? Let it be heard in the comments section below m. Don’t be left out!
