Ghanaians woke up to the shock of their lives Wednesday, October 19, 2022, when Onua TV aired a video of residents climbing a bridge with a ladder.

At Asikuma Odoben Brakwa in the Central region, an uncompleted bridge has impeded the movement of the entire community whose residents ply that route.

The bridge, started by then Member of Parliament under the John Agyekum Kufuor administration, Paul Collins Appiah Ofori, has been halted since 2009 when the then NPP government left office.

The Assemblyman of the area, Ishmael Koranteng tells Okatakyi Nana Kweku Ackon that they have made several attempts to authorities to complete the bridge for them but to no avail.

Some residents also noted “the river flooded our homes. We plead with the leaders to come and fix it for us. We use ladder to climb. Our children can’t even go to school.”

Another noted “when it rains it affects us. All our foodstuffs get spoilt behind the river. People have plots beyond the bridge but they can’t build meanwhile there are vast lands for development. We can stay immobile for two weeks when it rains and the river bursts its bank.”
