Some Residents of the Juaben Municipality in the Ashanti Region of Ghana are calling on the President of the Republic of Ghana Nana Akufo Addo to help the community by nominating new members to be considered as the Municipal Chief Executive Officer of the area.
However, the Juaben Municipality currently do not have Municipal Chief Executive Officer after Mr Alex Sarfo Kantanka was allegedly rejected by the Assembly members twice in the
Furthermore, it is noted that Mr Alex Sarfo Kantanka had only five out of about 26 votes cast in the first election by the assembly members. The election was again postponed after President Nana Akufo Addo renominated him despite the member’s rejection.
Nominated Mr Alex Sarfo Kantanka again pull only 10 votes out of the 25 total votes cast in the municipal with one rejected ballot paper.
Additionally, the presidential nominee was later indulged in an unhealthy bribery and corruption scandal where he was spotted in a viral circulating video demanding a refund of some money he secretly paid to some of the assembly members to gain votes from them.
On that note, with the absence or vacancy of the Municipal Chief Executive Officer position in the area, the residents deemed it worrisome as they call on President Nana Addo for a new nominee further rationalising their matter saying that some of the development in the municipal has halted due to the situation.
“It is becoming very worrisome for us, so we appeal to the government to appoint someone else for us. We don’t have an MCE and being without a leader has affected development in the area.”, one of the residents indicated.
Meanwhile, Emmanuel Gallo who happens to be an assembly member expressed hope on the President that he appoint a new candidate for the community very soon.
He said that” I know that whatever happens will prompt the president to go to the grassroots to do what the grassroots will be happy with”.
