Tragic Accident Claims 2 Lives In Sefwi Afariwa , Others Sustain Degree Of Injuries

Two lives have been claimed in a gory tricycle accident at Afariwa in the Bodi District of the Western Region, while two others are in critical condition.

According to an eyewitness, the tricycle picked plantains and sugarcane, and four passengers on board including the rider.

Report says the tricycle was heading towards Juaboso.

The rider, Kwame Prince says his brakes failed upon reaching Juaboso – Bodi junction.

In his attempt to take a sharp curve towards the Juaboso route, the tricycle slipped off the bitumen road which had become slippery due to the drizzle which was taking place at the time.

A 18-year-old on board the tricycle fell and died on the spot whilst three others were rushed to the Juaboso Government Hospital for treatment.

Subsequently, one of passengers called, Adwoa Twenewaa believed to be in her mid-forties, died at the hospital around 3:30 pm, leaving the rider and one 8-year-old girl who is currently in stable condition according to report.

It is also reported that the mother of the young girl boarded ‘pragya’ to the market and handed over the daughter to the rider who is a niece to him.

The tricycle is currently at the Juaboso Police Station for investigations to be conducted.
