Tragedic Accident In Bono East: Six Sadly died And 33 Seriously Injured

Six people including four males and two females have died in a gory road crash on the Kintampo Techiman highway in the Bono East region, the police have confirmed.

The accident which occurred on Wednesday (19 January) near Tuobodom involved a Kumasi bound KIA Granbird bus with registration number, KK-1-20 from Bolgatanga and an articulated DAF truck.

The Bono East regional commander of the Ghana National Fire Service, DCFO George Anim Frimpong told Asaase News that the six died on the spot as 33 others sustained injuries.

“It happened at 04:20hrs, the fire service were called at 04:23hrs when they got there they realised that there were two cars involved, one from Burkina Faso and the other a Ghana registered vehicle. There were 39 casualties – 22 males, 17 females. Six persons were found dead, two were already on the ground before firemen got there so they had to extricate the remaining four out making a total of six deaths,” DCFO Frimpong said..

Eyewitnesses said the bus driver crashed into the rear end of the stationary articulated truck leading to the accident.

Official reports said the truck which was purported to have come from Burkina Faso was left on the road unattended to and with no warning triangle to signal the oncoming vehicle of the danger ahead.
