Recalls occur as the FDA issues warnings to businesses that it is illegal to sell goods that include undeclared or concealed prescription drugs.
Early in the month of July, the FDA issued warning letters to four businesses that offered honey products with hidden active substances like sildenafil and tadalafil.
The active pharmaceutical compounds in Viagra and Cialis are sildenafil and tadalafil, respectively. They can only be used under the direction of qualified healthcare professionals.
The FDA warned that these hidden substances could mix with the nitrates in some prescription medications, such nitroglycerin, and cause dangerously low blood pressure.
