Students In Trouble As Another Nationwide Strike Declared -Details
The School Feeding Program’s caterers have announced a statewide strike.
The government’s failure to pay them their back arrears and boost the amount per child, according to the irate caterers, is what prompted them to declare a statewide strike.
The 16 regions of Ghana are represented by the caterers who have announced their strike.
They assert that unless their issues are resolved, they will not end the strike.
At a news conference, the caterers announced their strike.
Gifty Asamoah, speaking on behalf of the group, said that despite their best efforts to have their complaints handled, nothing has changed.
“School feeding caterers are public servants like teachers, Police, Doctors, nurses and other employees that provide state services but we are being discriminated against. Can government refuse to pay teachers for even one month, why are they doing the opposite when it comes to caterers? A contract is a contract and our human rights must be abused.”
If their arrears are not paid as soon as possible, they have threatened to hold a national protest.
