Media General Ghana Limited, operators of Onua TV/FM, TV3, OnuaOnline and other media platforms have launched campaigns to drum home a message to the government to stop attacking the media and tackle issues affecting the nation.
Dubbed “Arrest The Dollar Not The Media” and “Stop Galamsey Not The Media”, the campaigns talk about the incessant plummeting of the Cedi against the dollar as well as government’s attempt to gag the media from talking about the ills in the country the government has failed to address.
In January 2022, the Cedi was trading to the dollar at GH₵6.08 but now trades at GH₵15.00, which is about a 150% increase in 10 months.
Meanwhile, one of Media General’s employees, Blessed Godsbrain Smart, a.k.a. Captain Smart, who hosts Maakye on Onua TV/FM was arrested Wednesday following comments he made about the President being actively involved in the menace.
