Domestic air travellers are stranded at the various airports in the country following the withdrawal of services by the staff of the Ghana Airport Company Limited (GACL).

Travellers to various destinations in the country including Tamale, Kumasi and Takoradi are currently stranded at the airports with no hope in sight for them to embark on their trips.

The situation has resulted in some persons resorting to the only alternative which is traveling by road to their destinations in order to enable them catch up with some important meetings.

A visit to the domestic lounge of the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) by MyNewsGh.com saw hundreds of passengers loitering around hoping for a miracle.

Staff of the company are protesting against the Managing Director Mr Yaw Kwakwa who they said is being shielded from mismanagement and impropriety.

According to a statement directed to staff of the Airport, they are withdrawing their services on February 26 until further notice.

They say the strike has become important because the Board of the Airport want to “shelve the report of an investigative committee comprising the Ministry of Aviation, the Board, Senior Management, and the Public Services Workers Union which confirms the allegations of mismanagement and abuse of office levelled against the Managing Director, Mr Yaw Kwakwa”.
