Qnet Agent Shot Dead -Full Details Released
A Qnet agent has reportedly been shot dead in Kwasi Larbi, a community in the Suhum municipality of the Eastern Region. The incident occurred on Saturday evening according to residents and the Kwasi Larbi Electoral Area Assembly man.
The Qnet agents, numbering four, were allegedly spotted by businessman Otoo Acquah around his unwalled house. They were reportedly searching for ripe pears on a pear tree in the house.
Unsure of their identity, he allegedly fired a gun shot hitting one of them who was ordered by the businessman to climb down from the pear tree.
The Assemblyman, Abanga Kwesi Larbi, said the other Qnet agents fled the scene out of fear to report to their leaders. “Several of the Qnet agents lurk around some communities in the Eastern Region to feed themselves after failed business promises from their leaders,” he added.
Unconfirmed reports suggest that the man allegedly shot the Qnet agent because he suspected they had entered his house unlawfully to steal his iron rods.
The body of the agent shot has been deposited at the Suhum Government Hospital. The businessman who shot the Qnet agent is in police custody under investigations.
In a separate incident, two individuals were arrested for possessing 88 parcels of narcotics labeled ‘MTN’. The police nabbed the suspects in a swoop operation in the Bono East Region. The suspects were attempting to transport the parcels to Accra.
The police said the suspects had concealed the parcels of narcotics in a taxi cab with registration number GE 414-14. The suspects have since been detained for further investigations.
