It’s been 3 years since NABCO started and many have already benefited from this system. This was a fulfillment of a promise of the Akufo-Addo led government to decrease unemployment. Government released a presser calling an end to NABCO and yesterday on the official web portal of the scheme it was officially communicated to all personnel to stay away till an appropriate time.

According to the NDC, NABCO is a great scheme but not sustainable and bound to create frustrations at the end. As NABCO winds down, the government through its communicators have bragged that over 117,000 personnel were employed through the 3 years with 49,000 acquiring permanent jobs. However, the others left are frustrated and it is yet to be seen if there will be other offers for them.

Today, Friday, November 5, 2021, Kamal Deen told Berla Mundi on ‘New Day’ that those whining about losing their jobs should calm down. He noted that the personnel should be grateful that at least they have received 3 years of training and salaries, something the NDC failed to do. Interestingly, Kamal Deen stated that President Akufo-Addo never promised to give anyone a permanent job through NABCO. He explained that NABCO was only a temporary job offer meant to prepare the graduates.

Kamal Deen dared Berla Mundi and Usman, an NDC communicator to provide the exact time that Akufo-Addo mentioned that NABCO will provide permanent jobs to graduates. In a series of texts that came in during the show, many claimed that they are being owed stipends and have been deceived by the government. The NDC have argued that NABCO was just a promise meant to win votes for the NPP. They claim that after winning power the government will dispose the personnel.
