General Secretary for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) John Boadu has hinted of the government’s plans to strictly monitor the activities of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) across the country in the NPP’s second term in office.

According to him, the NPP’s problems in the 2020 elections emanated mostly from MMDCEs that the government appointed to represent it across the country.

John Boadu made this known when he spoke on Accra-based Asempa FM in an interview.

He indicated that people who were appointed as MMDCEs during the party’s first term in office were executives of the party who the party thought will work in pushing the agenda of the government but that wasn’t the case.

He said power corrupted most of the appointees to the extent that they were at loggerheads with their party leadership in their Districts and Municialities.

With the experience from the party’s first term, John Boadu indicated that MMDCEs will be strictly monitored by the government and the party indicating that they will ensure that their activities conform with the generality of the people.

Adding that “direct antagonism between MMDCEs and the political party in the various Districts, Municipalities will not be entertained”.
