The minority leader in Ghana’s Parliament has finally revealed a patriotic secret about the late Professor Evans Atta Mills and has charged the ruling Akufo-Addo government to learn from him. Haruna Iddrisu, the minority leader revealed that the government should learn to cut down expenditure because that was one of the main motives of Atta Mills.
He mentioned that one way Atta Mills used to cut down expenditure was by reducing his convoy to at most 7 cars. However, the Akufo-Addo government today, even in times of hardships can have about 57 cars in his convoy when he’s even going for a friendly visit. He charged the Akufo-Addo government to learn from the late former President, Evans Atta Mills.
“ Let’s honor President Mills by learning from the examples he gave us. We don’t need anybody to teach us that we should cut down public expenditures because that’s the way to go. The President will be going to visit just a district and you can count as many as 57 vehicles. That is waste of taxpayers’ money on fuel and the people accompanying the President. Professor Mills showed us the way during his time as President, he could use at most 7 cars in a convoy. The President should learn from Prof Mills.” Haruna Iddrisu revealed this on the floor of Parliament when they were remembering Prof Mills on 21st July, 2022.
