Ghana can boast of 46 colleges of education which is committed to the training of professional teachers for the country. These trainees are motivated with some tokens known as allowances and Ian disputes into their official accounts every month. This initiative was cancelled and has been reintroduced by the current government which has not been effective despite its revival. This created series of reactions from these trainees as they joined demonstrations to make public to government their plight over their allowances.
Lo and behold, their plights have been captured in the mid year budget review and government has worked on it. In a news sighted on the official twitter page of TV3 news is the final decision of government to disburse the funds of these trainees as well as funds for their feeding upkeep. The Ministry of Education has announced that the government has released an amount of GH¢57,460,000 for feeding and student allowances in Colleges of Education. This was announced in a statement issued by Spokesperson of the Ministry, Kwasi Kwarteng.
It is really a great move by government for it will help motivate the trainees and also help them financially.
