Few months ago, three public sector workers unions of Ghana, namely, the Ghana National Association Of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), Ghana National Association Of Teachers ( GNAT) and CCT engaged in a strong agitation for the cost of living allowance considering the current situation governing the country.
What necessited the agitation was largely due to the current inflation of prices of goods and services in the country with the salary of the Ghanaian public sector workers remaining fixed.
As part of government commitment to the citizenry plight, fifteen percentage was finally agreed upon for all public sector workers after various sector workers were planning to lay down their tools after the teacher’s strike. It was indicated that the fifteen percentage Addition would take effect on July.
However, it is a good news as no public sector worker would be left out in the payment of the cost of living allowance by the end of this month, August.
