Sixty Percent(60%) Salaries Increment of Public Workers: Fresh Updates After Meeting With Labour Unions Drop.
For the fourth time, discussions between the government and organized labor over a projected 60% rise in the base salary of public sector workers have come to a halt.
To compensate for the present tough economic conditions, organized labor is asking a 60% rise in base pay on the single spine salary system.
Even though the government proposed an 18% raise on Wednesday after the union rejected a 12% raise, Dr. Isaac Bampoe Addo, Executive Secretary of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG), stated the union is unyielding in their demand.
In an interview, he stated that “government has advanced to 18%.” We’ve also reached 65%, and the administration says it will consult. We also stated that we will meet with our residents and provide input.”
“We’re not being unjust. As you are aware, the budget has been read, and there is a 2.5% increase in VAT. Furthermore, it has been said that the tax brackets would be changed. So this is new information that we have presented. That is why we are requesting 65% right now. These will add to our load, which is why we are asking for more.”
It will be a dream move
