JUST IN: Please Forgive Him, He Misspoke; NDC Strongly Begs Ghanaians For Executive Who Said ‘Be Ready To Kill If It Will Win NDC 2024 Elections’ -Issued Wild Statement
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has said that its Youth Organiser for the Suame Constituency in the Ashanti Region misspoke out of frustration in the face of state-sponsored violence and ought to be forgiven.
In a press statement dated February 7, 2023 and signed by the NDC’s National Communications Officer Sammy Gyamfi, the youth activist did not intend to speak in the manner he did but inadvertently did so.
“We have taken notice of a video in circulation on social media in which the NDC Youth Organizer for Suame is heard making some statements that border on possible reprisals to state-sponsored violence during elections.
We note that the young man misspoke, as the message he sought to convey did not come out as intended.
Whilst we do not subscribe to violence as a party, except in cases of self defense, we cannot overlook the genuine sentiment and frustration of people who feel helpless in the face of incessant and unprovoked attacks and killings under this Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government. In the circumstances, we reiterate that the young man misspoke and must be pardoned,” the statement said.
The press release criticised the police for calling for the arrest of the activists after failing to even speak about worse acts perpetrated by New Patriotic Party (NPP) bandits.
The also accused members of the NPP who are chastising the Youth Organiser of hypocrisy given worse utterances by some of their members.
