The Leadership of the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) has stated clearly that the only conditions that will bring the strike to an end is when they have something tangible to take to their members.
This was made known by the National Association of Graduate Teachers’ Gender Coordinator, Rebecca Ocran Abaidoo. According to her, they have been invited for a meeting on Tuesday and the leadership will respond and press on the demand of it’s members.
She noted that decision to end the strike will depend solely on the negotiations government if they have something reasonable they can take back to the members they serve.
Madam Rebecca Ocran stated “We are hopeful that we would have something tangible to send to our rank and file so that we would call off the strike. (But) We are still on strike and we have not called off the strike,” she stressed.
Madam Rebecca Ocran stated that the claims that the four teacher unions have rescind their decision is false and that despite the humble from the government, they also have to do consultations with all ranks and files of the members to arrive at a decision.
It would be recalled that the four teacher unions on the 4th of July, 2022 declared an indefinite strike over failure of government to grant a 20% cost of living allowance.
It is hopeful that something tangible as the teachers want will come out of the meeting with the stakeholders tomorrow.
