About 400 management and ordinary staff of the Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) have not been paid salaries for June, MyNewsGh.com has gathered.
This portal has further discovered that validation of salaries for July has not also been done thereby leaving the unhappy staff unsure of receiving July salaries.
Effectively, the NABCO staff covering their senior management members, regional and district coordinators, drivers and cleaners will be owed two months of arrears at the end of July.
It has also emerged that the government has been unable to release funds for utilities for all offices of NABCO across the country which are also in arrears.
Some Regional and District coordinators who confirmed the situation say they have no idea when their salaries will be paid because there are no indications of such in sight.
The situation of the staff mimics that of thousands of trainees under the NABCO program who are said to be owed about eight (8) months in arrears.
“We do appreciate the ongoing processes aimed at enrolling section of trainees on to the yet-to-be-launched YouStart programme, but we are pleading with the government to pay the arrears due the disgruntled trainees because we are suffering. It does not send the right signal when you have not paid NABCo trainees for the past eight months, which has plunged them into severe hardship, but readying for the launch of YouStart,” an earlier statement by NABCO Trainees Association of Ghana said.
