The minority in Ghana’s Parliament led by the minority leader, Haruna Iddrisu has finally exposed the electoral commissioner, Jean Mensa over another $80M for a new voters register. In addition, the minority sent a strong message to Madam Jean Mensa.
While speaking to the media at Parliament today, the minority leader boldly revealed that Jean Mensa and the electoral commission are planning to scrap the 2020 voters register and do a new one at the cost of $80M. The minority revealed that there is no justification for a new voter register after the commission just made one in 2020.
“ This matter may threaten the stability of our country since it borders on the right of a Ghanaian citizen to vote. We understand that the electoral commission of Ghana is desperately planning to discard the 2020 voter register and do a new one which will cost the Ghanaian taxpayer about $80M dollars. Our concern is that the country does not need any new voter register and Jean Mensa and the electoral commission should not even start any action like that. “ Haruna Iddrisu boldly revealed this to the media.
The electoral commission of Ghana replaced the 2016 voter register with a new one in 2020 and that put Ghana’s eligible voters at over 17 million.
