The Bono Regional Chairman of the governing New patriotic Party( NPP), Kwame Bafour Abronye DC, has strongly disputed Former President John Dramani Mahama’s claims that if elected into power come 2024 he will review/cancel the controversial ex-gratia.

Addressing the Press, the outspoken Chairman of the Bono Region noted that, “John Mahama cannot review Ex gratia because he and his government (2012- 2016), family, appointees and cronies are the most beneficiaries of end of service benefit otherwise known as ex gratia in the 4th Republic of our Nation. No Former President and his appointees have ever benefitted from end of service benefits and its accompanying emoluments like John Mahama has done”.

He further explained that, at page 56 of the 2014 State of the Nations address delivered by John Mahama in Parliament, he noted that, no government appointee will be allowed to purchase his or her official car or residence at the end of one’s public service, adding that It is important to state that, John Mahama himself was the first person to breach the measures as mentioned in parliament during the performance of his constitutional duties under article 67.

The Bono Regional Chairman admonished the inky fraternity, to take any statement by Former President John Mahama and his NDC on reviewing article 71 with a pinch of salt because John Mahama has developed the knack and penchant of peddling falsehood.
