The Minority Caucus in Parliament has exposed Government again in a disturbing Financial scandal.
The Minority Caucus made this known in a press conference today stating that the Government through the Public Procurement Authority has blown up a contract at the Bulk Oil and Transportation Company (BOST) to an amount of $39 million.
According to the Minority Caucus, this said amount could have executed double the project intended at the time. Nonetheless, the contract was signed for a single unit construction.
The Minority Caucus established that the actual estimated cost of the construction was $39 but was approved at an exorbitant amount of $78 million which is double the actual cost.
The Minority Caucus stressed that “a contract sum for the construction of a single unit tower estimated at US$ 39 million has been inflated and approved by the Public Procurement Authority (PPA) at US$78 million, indicating a 100 percent inflated price.
They also emphasized that “the total amount of US$78 million could get BOST a twin-unit tower as initially agreed under the contract.”
The NDC Ranking Member on the Energy and Mines Committee, Mr John Abdulai Jinapor, MP for Yapei-Kusawgu Constituency who addressed the press has accused the Nana Akufo-Addo administration of using the Energy Sector for unfair gains.
He said”We are firm in our conviction that this is a classic case of causing financial loss to the state. This is another PDS, Ameri and Movinpina scandal in the making. The Energy sector under the current NPP administration has become a Pollution Haven for regularized corruption, inflated favouritism, and rusted nepotism.”
He noted that the act constitute a huge financial loss to the state.
The questions that Ghanaians always ask is what next after this revelations. Who is supposed to act and bring the offenders to book.
Ghanaian will also expect them to take actions after the public awareness.
