Sad News reaching us has it that the National Peace Council is mourning the Regional Chairman who unfortunately succumbed to death.
The information available bares that Reverend John Ernest Kwofie, the Western Regional Chairman of the National Peace Council was announced dead on the evening of Wednesday, February 17, 2021. His death was reported at Takoradi where he was residing with his family.
The sudden death of Reverend John Ernest Kwofie is reported to have occurred after complaining of a short illness.
The National Peace Council played a very important role in the conduct of the 2020 general election. Members of the Council organized workshops to preach peace to the political parties that participated in the election.
After the final declaration of the election results, the National Peace Council had meetings with former President John Dramani Mahama to accept the results.
However, their pleas were not heeded after the election results landed in the Supreme Court of Ghana.
In the Western Region, the late Reverend John Ernest Kwofie engaged stakeholders on the need to ensure peace before, during, and after the election.
In November 2020, the late Reverend John Ernest Kwofie organized a workshop dubbed “Dialogue session on conflict prevention before, during, and after the 2020 election. He selected participants from some hotspots in the western region for the training.
He served as the Western Region Chairman for the National Peace Council until his sudden demise. The news of his death has come as a surprise to many as he was spotted at the Western Region Coordinating Council (RCC) last Friday to witness the Council of State Election.
