The Upper East Regional Security Council (REGSEC) has lifted a temporary ban it placed on the operations of tricycles, also known as “yellow yellow”, in the Bawku municipality.

The REGSEC said the ease of the restriction follows appeals by public sector workers in the municipality on the difficulties faced commuting to work.

On Monday 19 September 2022, the REGSEC imposed the restriction among others as part of measures to de-escalate the deteriorating security situation in the area.

Exactly a month after enforcing the restriction, the REGSEC at its latest meeting on 18 October 2022, said it has decided to lift the ban as there has been some relative peace and cooperation from the feuding factions to the peace-building process.

The REGSEC in its statement reiterated the need for the factions to laid down arms to end the loss of lives and property and seek development.
