Shortly after Kwaku Asomah-Cheremeh was released, Abronye stated that he rather went to report to the MCE to President Akufo-Addo and lied that the MCE was into galamsey- costing him his job.

In providing more details, Abronye explained that the galamsey taskforce module setup by President Akufo-Addo makes provision for only the minister to report directly to him.

And this module in his view, allowed Asomah-Cheremeh to take advantage and present a case to ensure the innocent MCE was removed from post.

“The Tarkwa MCE arrested the Minister who had visited galamsey sites to go and take money from the illegal miners. The former MCE and his taskforce meant well for the President and the case is with the Tarkwa Police station. This happened in 2020”, Abronye said.

He therefore advised President Akufo-Addo to investigate the matter and be careful around people who care about money and not the legacy he wants to leave after his tenure is over.
